Branson Blitz ’16

Had reservations for the normal period of Friday – Sunday morning and read they started the activities Thursday, 4/14.  Why not!  Dave Carter accompanied me over via the back roads.  Heard of inclement weather pending, but pushed on in via Noel and the fun roads.BB  One of those intersections, I lost Dave.  He high-sided it on the gravel on a T intersection and several people stopped to get him back up and running before I got there.  He injured his ankle and couldn’t support himself when stopped to put down the side stand.  Thus the remainder of the weekend was to get from A to B without stopping. The Blitz has become a Spring tradition for many area BMW riders.

This casual “hotel rally” is organized by the Internet BMW Riders (IBMWR) and held each April in Branson , Missouri. Since this is a time of year well known for precipitation, camping out isn’t such a great idea. But rooms in Branson during the off-season are cheap  and the roads are not yet clogged with RVs.

WHY AREN’T YOU RIDING?

Next Meeting
Again, we will be meeting at the Martin Regional Library on 2601 S Garnett in Tulsa.  This will be on Thursday, May 15th at 7 p.m.  Our normal day of the week has been pre-occupied by another group, so this change will only be for this month.

After handling necessary club business, a short story on both the Branson Blitz on those who went (there was 4 of us – 6 including those from Broken Arrow – with really Crisp COOKIES!), and the ride to the Pawnee Steam Show, then news and a short report on the club’s rally, I will be turning over the reins to Fred Storer – a retired engineer from Phillips Petroleum who has turned an analytical eye to road safety, and a subset – motorcycle safety.
